 The goal of the Rochester Police Department security camera program is to deter crime and promote public safety in collaboration with the community. As such, all security camera registrants agree and are advised of the following terms and conditions of the program. 1. Camera images are not normally monitored in real time unless determined necessary by the Rochester Police Department or other authorized law enforcement authority. 2. Areas that are entitled to privacy will not be monitored unless authorized by law. Examples of areas that may be entitled to privacy protections include but are not limited to restrooms, living quarters, bathing facilities and dressing rooms. 3. The Rochester Police Department may request access to video footage related to suspected criminal activity, that was collected by the home or business owner, for use in investigating criminal activity or for use as evidence during any stage of a criminal proceeding. When requested, the home or business owner may decide to disclose the requested video footage to the Rochester Police Department or other law enforcement authority. If video footage is not released but the Rochester Police Department or law enforcement authority determines it is necessary for a criminal investigation, the Department or law enforcement authority may request a search warrant or use legal measures to obtain the images. 4. The Rochester Police Department will contact the home or business owner directly, using the information provided on this site, to request the appropriate video surveillance footage. 5. Registrants shall not represent that they are acting as an agent and/or employee of the Rochester Police Department or City of Rochester, Mn. 6. Information is reserved for official use by the Rochester Police Department or other law enforcement authority. Any dissemination of information shall be in accordance with federal, state, and local ordinances and in compliance with the Minnesota Data Practices Act. 7. The Rochester Police Department will contact registrants directly, using the information provided on this site, to request the appropriate video surveillance footage. 8. By registering on this site, you agree to hold harmless the Rochester Police Department and City of Rochester, Mn for the limited purposes of the security camera program. 9. By registering on this site, you agree that you will not engage in any illegal video surveillance activity.
